Otto Adolph Klusmann, age 69, of Garnett, Kansas, died on Monday, October 12, 2009, at the Ottawa Retirement Village in Ottawa, Kansas. Otto was born on July 28, 1940, in Garnett, Kansas, the son of Adolph Robert and Emma Anna (Ackmann) Klusmann. He grew up in the area, attending High Point grade school. He graduated from Garnett High School with the Class of 1958. After high school, Otto went into farming. He lived on the farm that had been his Great Uncle's, who came from Germany in 1886. Otto also worked part time for Tom Medcalf Aerial Spraying Inc. in 1964. From 1967 to 1972, he worked with Noah Schrock Auto Svc; and Na-chus Plant Food Co. for 6 years. He served on boards for Anderson County Farm Bureau; Rural Water District #6; and was a board member of Legal Services of Emporia, and the Kansas Legal Services Inc. of Topeka. Otto always enjoyed helping people and he loved the outdoors. He liked his cattle, as well as his old John Deere tractors. He most enjoyed working with his neighbors and friends. Otto was preceded in death by his parents; and his sister, Elsie Katzer. He is survived by his niece Nancy Ann Katzer; and nephew, Stephen Reed Katzer; brother-in-law Fred A. Katzer; a very close friend, Karen Revey; and many other friends. Otto had chosen to donate his body to medical research. Memorial services will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions in Otto's memory may be made to the Salvation Army.
