Patricia Powell, age 68, of Colony, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, May 9, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital in Lawrence, Kansas. She was born on May 10, 1941, at Galva, Kansas, the daughter of William Eugene and Elizabeth (Johnson) Murray. She grew up in the Mankato area, graduating from high school there. Pat was working as a waitress when she met her husband. She was united in marriage to Jim Powell in Mankato, Kansas, on August 27, 1958. This union was blessed with two children. She worked as a bookkeeper. She and Jim owned and operated Family Treasures and Antiques in Iola. Pat had also been a foster parent to a number of children. She was a member of Wesleyan Methodist Church. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, playing the piano and organ, as well as being a seamstress and crocheting, and she was talented with crafts. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Jim Powell of the home; one son, Jim Powell, Jr. and his companion Sandy Hardy of Moran, Kansas; one daughter, Debra Suchy and husband Steven of Iola, Kansas; two sisters, Elaine Thomas of Mankato, Kansas; Terry Standley and husband Jim of Augusta, Kansas; ten grandchildren; and eleven great grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Colony, Kansas. Inurnment will follow in the Colony Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home in Colony. Memorial contributions may be made to Southern Care Hospice and sent in care of the funeral home, PO BOX 408, Garnett, Kansas 66032.
