Patrick E. Phelan, 62, formerly of Humboldt, died Feb. 8, 2015, in Houston, TX after major heart surgery. Patrick was born June 20, 1952, in Chanute, KS, graduated from Humboldt High School in 1970 and attended college for 3 years. He and Marilyn J. Marlar of Toronto were married on July 7, 1973 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Humboldt. They have one son, Daniel J. Patrick worked at the Burlington nuclear power plant after his marriage and worked as a Quality Specialist for this type of company in several parts of the country until his retirement in 2013 due to major health issues. He spent one year working in Ramadi, Iraq in 2004. Patrick is survived by his wife, Marilyn, of their Texas home, one son, Daniel J. Phelan and wife, Juanita, one step grandson, Gabriel, his mother, Marcella Phelan of Humboldt, one brother Mike Phelan of Eldorado, two brothers-in-law, Darrell and Marvin Marlar, three sisters-in-law, Marg and Patricia Phelan and Peggy Marlar, ten nieces and nephews and several grand nieces and grand nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, James R. Phelan, his brother, Richard J. Phelan, his mother and father-in-law, Bessie & Cecil Marlar and his sister-in-law, Loretta Klick. He belonged to the Catholic Church. Services will be held at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Humboldt, KS, at 10:00 a.m. on Mon. Feb. 16th, beginning with the Rosary service, continuing immediately into the funeral Mass. Inurnment will be at St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt.
