Patricia "Patti" June Trowbridge went to be with her maker and her mother in heaven on Friday, March 25, 2022.
She died at Allen County Regional Hospital at the age of 55, outliving her life expectancy.
Patti was born July 1, 1966, in El Dorado to Eldon and Bernice (Riebel) Trowbridge. Patti was born with Down syndrome at a time when they knew little about it. The doctor told her mother to take her home and love her, and she did. Patti lived with her mother until her mother's death in 2018. Her dad always said she was his special angel.
Patti was Catholic and was proud of that fact, telling everyone she was Catholic.
Patti attended school at Prospect School in her younger days. She also attended Chanute High School and earned her high school diploma from there.
She was very proud of her diploma and wanted to show everyone. She also worked at Tri-Valley for several years and at McDonald's in Iola.
In her younger years, she loved to ride her bike, and went on many vacations with her mother and other family members. She got to see Yosemite National Park and the Grand Canyon, to name a few. She also loved to fi sh, bowl and get in the pool.
Patti is survived by her loving sister, Beverly Harris, who took care of her the last four years after her mother died, and her best friend and caretaker, Donna Harris, both of the home; her sisters, Gayla Purcell (George) of rural Piqua, Wanda Craft (James) of Emporia, Maxine Escobar of Hanford, Calif., and Laura Mathews (Mark) of Lindsey, Okla.; a brother, Lyle Trowbridge (Connie) of Iola; and many family and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Eldon Trowbridge; both sets of grandparents, Joe and Flora Riebel and Irvin and Clara Trowbridge; her brothers-in-law, Roger Harris and Domingo Escobar; and a great-niece, Jayden Cheney.
She will be missed by many people.
A funeral service to honor the life of Patti will be at 10 a.m. Friday, April 1, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. Burial will follow at the Blankenship Cemetery in Rosalia. Family will greet friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday in The Chapel at the Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Chapel in Iola.
