Patty Karr

Patty Sue Karr, 44, of LaHarpe, Kansas, died Saturday, February 12, 2011, at her home. Patty was born May 16, 1966, in Iola, Kansas, the daughter of James Lee and Sally Sue (Dillman) Smith. She grew up in the Gas and Iola areas. On April 26, 1985, Patty married Kenneth Lee Karr and they made their home in LaHarpe. Patty was a certified nurses aide and certified medication aide. She has worked in many of the area nursing homes. She was working at Community Care Connections doing in-home care when her health failed. Patty enjoyed mud truck runs and caring for her grandchildren. SURVIVORS: Her husband: Kenneth Lee Karr of the home 2 Daughters: Sunshine Jones & husband, Jason of LaHarpe, KS and Jamie Karns & husband, Jon of LaHarpe, KS 2 Grandchildren: Aerianna and Cadence Jones Her Mother: Sally VanSandt & husband, Mike of Medford, Oregon 2 Sisters: Sheila Foster of Iola, KS, and Belinda Dyer & husband, Brent of Toronto, KS 2 Brothers: John Smith of Beckley, WV and Kenneth Skaggs of Humboldt, KS Several nieces and nephews Her dogs: Buddy and Scrappy She was preceded in death by her father, James Lee Smith, and her in-laws, Ray Alfred and Betty Jean Karr. Cremation has taken place. VISITATION: 5:00-7:00 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. MEMORIAL CHOICES: In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Cancer Treatment Centers of American (Tulsa), Allen County Animal Rescue Foundation (ACARF), or Allen County Hospice Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
