Paul Martin Goodspeed, age 49, of rural Colony, Kansas, passed away at Olathe Medical Center on Tuesday, September 27, 2011. Paul was born January 9, 1962 in Munich, Germany, the son of William Hunter and Ruth Marie (Martin) Goodspeed, while his father was stationed there with the United States Army. Paul grew up in southern California and joined the United States Marine Corps when he was 18. He was later discharged for medical reasons. For the past few years he has been in ill health and resided at the family rural home with his Mom. He attended the Colony Community Church. Paul enjoyed animals. He is survived by his mother, Marie Goodspeed of rural Colony, KS, a brother, Matt of Overland Park, KS, a sister, Heather of Lake Forest, CA, nephew Max, niece Alexa and their mother, Susan of Louisburg, KS, cousin Brian McMahon of Laguna Niguel, CA, and cousin Bill Goodspeed of Centralia, IL. He was preceded in death by his father, Major William H. Goodspeed in Vietnam in December of 1967. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 7, 2011, at the Colony Community Church. Pastor Steve Bubna will officiate.
