Paul Wesley Nance, age 83, of Iola, Kansas, passed away July 28, 2024, at Medicalodges of Iola, Iola, Kansas. Paul was born November 13, 1940, in Thayer, Kansas, to Daniel W. Nance and Lucille (Haas) Nance.
Paul served his country in the United States Navy from 1958 to 1967. Paul and Maralyn Horner were married August 13, 1967, in Chanute, Kansas.
Upon his return from the Navy, Paul worked at a gas station and mechanics shop in Chanute, Kansas. He later worked for Dale Wichman Ford in the body shop and then he started his truck driving career that lasted 37 years. After Paul retired, he and Maralyn were camp hosts at Big Hill Lake at Mound Valley, Kansas.
Paul was a talented woodcarver and he made a lot of silver and turquoise jewelry. He liked making fishing poles. Paul loved to crappie fish, riding bicycles and motorcycles, and driving his Jeep. He enjoyed spending time with his grandsons.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Maralyn; brother, Eldon Nance; sister, Nancy Nance; half-brothers, Milo Nance, James Nance; granddaughter, Jordan Dickerson; and great-grandson, Zyler Haines.
Paul is survived by daughters, Teresa (Tom) Ellison, Vicki Dailey, Paula (Joe) Dickerson, Sherlyn (Jarrod) Tedder; step-children, that he thought of as his own, Ramona (Steve) Cranston, Toni Gutierrez, Phillip (Jimmie) Gutierrez, Bidal Gutierrez; grandchildren, Tristan Dickerson, Paul (Tylor) Tedder, Crystal (Tim McGoff) Dailey, Stevie Dailey, Alyssa Dailey-Morse , Tanaka Ellison, Jennifer Ellison, Tommy (Arlene) Ellison, Benjamin Ellison, Austin (Mary) Kinzle, Christopher (Kari) Kinzle, Jessica (Lee Pahcoddy) Kinzle, Anthony (Kristine) Gutierrez, Trinitee (Chris Brallier) Gutierrez; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and brother, Earl (Rebecca) Nance.
A visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 15, 2024, in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2024, at 10:30 a.m., in the chapel at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service. Inurnment with military honors will be in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, Fort Scott, Kansas.
