Paul Henry Tholen, 82, of Moran, Kansas, went to be with his savior Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at his home surrounded by his family. Paul was born April 27, 1928, in Oakley, Kansas, the son of Henry and Cora (Doughtry) Tholen. He attended schools in Oakley. Paul served in the United States Marine Corp from 1947 to 1948. On June 22, 1948, Paul married Alice Bahr at Olmitz, Kansas, and she survives of the home. Paul started farming in the Oakley area for one year then moved to Moran to farm. He also worked as a service tech for Western Auto for several years and then went to full time farming. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, and the American Legion. SURVIVORS: His wife of 62 years: Alice Tholen of the home 4 Sons: Rick Tholen & wife, Peggy of Garnett, KS, Jim Tholen & wife, Vickie of Iola, KS, Gary Tholen & wife, Karen of Edmond, OK, and Robert Tholen & wife, Julie of Moran, KS 2 Daughters: Carol Perkins & husband, Mel of Parsons, KS and Paula Nipper & husband, Danny of Osage City, KS 21 Grandchildren and 21 Great Grandchildren with two more on the way 3 Sisters: Lucille Jennings and Bernice Jackson both of Hays, KS, and Loretta Jamison & husband, Bob of Oklahoma City, OK He was preceded in death by his mother and father and by an infant twin son, John Paul Tholen. VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010, at St. John's Parish Center in Iola. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, followed by the celebration of the mass at 10:00 a.m. both at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola. The Reverend Robert B. Wachter will be celebrant.
