Penni Jo Miller, age 53, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, October 20, 2011, at Olathe Medical Center in Olathe, Kansas. She was born on July 12, 1958, in Genesse County, Michigan, the daughter of Duane Frederick and Joan Lee (Holbin) Warner. Penni grew up in the Midland, Michigan area. She attended Central and Meridian schools. Penni was united in marriage to Kenneth L. Miller on August 28, 1973, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Midland, Michigan. This union was blessed with five children. Following their marriage, they moved to Tacoma, Washington for three years while Ken was in the service. They returned to Midland for seven years, before moving to Ottawa, Kansas in 1984. In 1990 they moved to their current home in rural Anderson County. She was a homemaker. Penni enjoyed cooking and baking, especially cakes. She also liked to make jewelry. She had a love for horses, and going to auctions. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and all of her animals on their farm. Penni was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband, Ken Miller, of the home; one daughter, Shawnda Shafer of Lawrence, Kansas; four sons, James Miller and wife Heather of Waverly, Kansas; Andrew Miller and wife Glenda of Topeka, Kansas; Erik Miller of Salina Kansas; Joel Miller and wife Dalavan of Olathe, Kansas; four sisters, Wendy Anderson and husband Dale of Midland, Michigan; Mary Townsend of La Conner, Washington; Shelly Bellfield and husband Tim of Rockport, Washington; Beth Todd and husband Jim of Midland, Michigan; one brother, Tom Warner and wife Ute of Burlington, Washington; stepmother Judy Warner of Midland, Michigan; and sixteen grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Amiot Cemetery, rural Anderson County. Penni will lie in state from Noon - 5:30 p.m. on Sunday and after 8:00 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. The family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Monday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
