Perry A. Dillow, 92, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, January 25, 2011, at Guest Home Estates in Iola. Perry was born April 22, 1918, on a farm near Millcreek, Illinois, the son of George and Clara (Combs) Dillow. He grew up in Illinois and graduated from Dongola High School. On May 31, 1936, Perry married Mildred Dillow at Cairo, Illinois. They made their home in Illinois. He worked on the farm for a few years before going to work for the railroad. Perry worked as a section hand, then as a brakeman, and finally as a conductor. In 1953, he began working at the Stateville Federal Penitentiary in Joliet, Illinois, for 20 years. He later worked for Argonne National Laboratory near Chicago. Perry retired in 1980 and moved to Iola, in 1985. Mildred preceded him in death on October 24, 2007. He was a charter member and helped constitute a southern baptist church at Plainfield, Illinois. The church is now a growing, spiritual institution named Fellowship Baptist Church. Perry served with the United States Army during World War II. SURVIVORS: His Son: Howard Dillow & wife, Cheryl of Iola, KS 2 Half-Brothers: Gerald Dillow of Fairfield Heights, IL, and Larry Dillow of Anna, IL 2 Sisters: Virginia Stubbs of Denham Springs, LA, and Nedadeen LaGrone of Coaling, AL 3 Grandsons: Stephen Dillow of Kansas City, MO, Brian Dillow & wife, Lacy of Humboldt, KS and Michael Dillow of Iola, KS 5 Great Grandchildren: Megan Dillow of Iola, KS, Gavin Dillow of Yates Center, KS, Logan, Gracie and Morgan Dillow of Humboldt, KS VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Iola FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011, at the First Baptist Church in Iola. Pastor Mike Quinn will officiate. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery, Iola, KS MEMORIAL: First Baptist Church Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
