Phillip H. Phares, age 75, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away peacefully of natural causes, Saturday, November 6, 2010 at Golden Heights Living Center, Garnett, Kansas. Phillip was born on February 12, 1935, in Colony, Kansas, the son of Harold A. and Olive M. (Newcomb) Phares. Phillip graduated from Garnett High School in Kansas, attending college at Emporia State University, Emporia, Kansas. He joined and served in the Army National Guard of the United States and United States Army. Phillip married the former Beverly M. Boyles on September 2, 1961. To this union, two children were born, Phillip Stanton Phares and Krista Ann Phares. Phillip was a dedicated to his career as an Electronic Engineer, contracted by the United States Government. He worked for the Lockheed Martin Inc., R.E.L. Inc, and Sierra Technology, Inc. He retired in 2003. He was preceded in death by his parents, Harold and Olive Phares; one brother, Jack Phares and his wife Beverly; one son, Phillip "Stanton" Phares. Phillip is survived by his daughter, Krista Phares of Stamford, Connecticut; two brothers, Paul Phares and wife Jo Ella of Garnett, Kansas; Richard Phares of Osawatomie, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, November 12, 2010 at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, burial to follow in the Garnett Cemetery. Family will greet friends on Thursday evening at the funeral home from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the Garnett V.F.W.
