Phyllis Caler

Phyllis N. Caler, 73, of Iola, Kansas, died Tuesday, November 9, 2010, at the Overland Park Regional Medical Center in Overland Park, Kansas. Phyllis was born August 11, 1937, at Humboldt, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mona (Willhite) Durkin. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1955. On August 27, 1955, Phyllis married Dale J. Caler. They made their home in Iola where she worked for Thompson Poultry and Gates Rubber Company until retiring. Dale preceded her in death on August 1, 2003. SURVIVORS: 2 Sons: Bruce Caler of Topeka, Kansas and Ronald Caler of Iola, Kansas 1 Daughter: Janet Thompson & husband, Robert of Moran, Kansas 2 Brothers: Joe Durkin of Springfield, MO and Raymond Durkin of Osage City, KS 2 Sisters: Mary Ann Mueller of Humboldt, KS and Nancy Chandler of Chanute, KS 3 Grandchildren: Amanda Frame, Bryan Frame and Courtney Frame 3 Step-Grandchildren 2 Great Grandchildren 1 Step-Great Grandchild She was preceded in death by a son, Roger Caler, and two brothers, Clyde Willhite and J.D. Durkin VISITATION: 6:00-8:00 p.m., Friday, Nov. 12, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 13, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Chaplain Lloyd W. Houk will officiate.
