Phyllis Irene Jackson

February 10, 1942 — May 26, 2021

Devoted wife, mother, and grandmother Phyllis Irene Jackson, age 79, of Mound City, Kansas, entered fully into the presence of the Lord on Wednesday, May 26, 2021, at Moran Manor, Moran, Kansas.

She was born on February 10, 1942, on a farm outside of Xenia, Bourbon County, Kansas, the daughter of Charles Melvin and Ruth Alberta (Main) Whitcomb. Phyllis graduated from Blue Mound High School, Blue Mound, Kansas.

Phyllis married Leroy Bower and two children were born to this union. She later married Marvin D. Zornes, who passed away in 2005. After Marvin's passing she married Darrell Jackson on August 2, 2008, in Iola, Kansas, they made their home in Mound City.

Phyllis is reunited with her parents, Melvin and Ruth Whitcomb; one infant brother, Melvin Dwayne; two sisters, Sandra Ruth and Debra Kay Stewart; one brother, Donald; and one daughter, Paula Morrow.

Phyllis is survived by her husband, Darrell Jackson, of the home; children, Lori Evans and husband Jon, Steven Bower and wife Robin, Dale Jackson and wife Sue, Marsha Brownback, Laura Eastwood and husband David, Joe Jackson, Steve Jackson and wife Kelley, Rebecca Wolfe, Tina Jones and husband Jim; siblings, Charles Robert "C.R." and Susan White, Cheryl Moore and husband Rick, David Whitcomb and wife Carolyn, Wayne Whitcomb and wife Susie; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and many other extended family members and friends.

Phyllis' family and Christian faith were an essential part of her life. She spent a great deal of time witnessing and mentoring young Christians, introducing many people to the love of Jesus. She was a kind, gentle person who showed her love for Christ through her behavior and actions. Her life was a living example of the bible verse Ephesians 4:32 "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgive one another, just as God also forgave you in Christ."

Phyllis retired from the City of Iola. After retirement she enjoyed driving a school bus for the Marmaton Valley school district. Phyllis loved sharing the word of God, spending time with her family, fishing, crawdaddy hunting, camping, and spending time with her grandchildren at her farm. Later in life, Phyllis had a deep love for her husband, Darrell.

She is dearly missed by her loved ones who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her creator.
