Phyllis Ann McVey

Phyllis McVey, age 93, passed away Thursday, October 26, 2023, at Medicalodges of Iola, Iola, Kansas.

Phyllis was born on July 20, 1930, to Charles A. and Bernice (Hillard) Ervin in El Dorado, Kansas. She went to El Dorado grade school until her family moved to Moran, Kansas, where she attended Moran High School and graduated in 1948.

Phyllis married Charles Harley McVey, Jr. in 1949, and they were together for 73 years until his death in 2022.

Phyllis was a wonderful homemaker and would do almost anything for her family who were her world. She also found time for the hobbies she enjoyed, such as quilting, drawing and singing.

Phyllis was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Bernice Ervin; brother Eldon Ervin; sisters Betty Davidson and Barbra Daughty; son Chris A. McVey; and a granddaughter.

Phyllis is survived by her son Phillip E. McVey; daughter Linda Sue Bonham; one brother; 3 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and numerous other family members and friends.

A memorial service for Phyllis will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, November 2, 2023, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Inurnment will follow at Moran Cemetery, Moran, Kansas.
