Phyllis Reed

Phyllis Eileen Reed, 67, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, March 13, 2013, at St. Francis Hospital in Topeka. Phyllis was born November 27, 1945, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Leonard and Delores (Peck) Krone. She grew up in Humboldt and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1963. On October 18, 1968, Phyllis married Bobby L. Reed in Chanute and they have made their home in Humboldt most of their married lives. She operated a daycare from her home for a number of years. She began working as a crossing guard for Humboldt Elementary School and then became a janitor. She loved being around the children and referred to them as "her babies." She was an organ donor because she wanted to help her babies. Phyllis was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, where she helped with Bible School and volunteered for many activities.
