Ralph Junior Madill, age 89, formerly of Chanute, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, February 15, 2023, in Edmond Oklahoma.
Ralph was born on June 20,1933 in Fort Scott, Kansas to Ralph Clark and Ella Mary (Umphenour) Madill. Ralph grew up in Chanute, Kansas and graduated from Chanute High School. Ralph married Betty Jean Bair in Marysville, Kansas on April 21, 1957. Their union was blessed with two daughters.
Ralph's professional career in sales allowed the family to live in multiple locations in Kansas and Oklahoma. They spent over six years in Ponca City, Oklahoma where both daughters Pam and Darla graduated from High School. Following years in Ponca City Ralph and Betty moved to Wichita, Kansas where Ralph worked hand in hand with his brother Wayne at Madill Carbide until his retirement.
Ralph's great love in life was his family. He and Betty both grew up in large families, and this focus on family remained throughout his life. Ralph and Betty moved to Edmond, Oklahoma from Wichita, Kansas in 2007 to live closer to their two daughters and families. Ralph was a collector of many things; rocks, unique wood pieces and his love of being outdoors. He always had a smile on his face and was ready to help those around him. Ralph was in the Army Reserves at Fort Carson, Colorado for three years at Platoon Headquarters. Ralph continued his volunteering with the Red Cross in Wichita, Kansas and EARC in Edmond, Oklahoma until 2016.
Ralph was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Betty; his parents, one sister Gertrude Madill, five brothers, George and wife Opal Madill, Raymond and wife Betty Madill, Ernest and wife Mary Madill, Wayne Madill, Norman and wife Laurice Madill, and his brother-in-law Frank Carlburg.
Ralph is survived by two daughters, Pamela Link and husband, Michael of Edmond, Oklahoma; Darla O'Neill and husband, Gary of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Grant Link of Edmond, Oklahoma, Mallory Bowman and husband, Steve, Morgan Miller and husband, Kyle, and Adam O'Neill and wife, Hailey all of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; two great-grandchildren, Louis Miller and Lee Bowman of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, one sister Ella Marie Carlburg of Bartlesville, OK, one sister-in-law Neva Madill of Wichita, Kansas, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 P.M., on Friday, February 24, 2023 at Highland Cemetery, Iola, Kansas. Prior to the graveside service a luncheon will be held at 11:30 A.M. at The Venue in Iola, KS.
