Ralph E. "Rommie" Rommelfanger, age 84, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, formerly of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Friday, August 5, 2016. Rommie was the fourth of five children born to Francis Joseph and Theresa Josephine (Rues) Rommelfanger. He was born on July 5, 1932, in Greeley, Kansas. Rommie grew up in Greeley, graduating from Greeley High School in 1950. Following school, he entered the US Army. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving in the early 1950's. Following his time in the service he returned to Greeley and began working at Taylor Forge as a welder. After retiring in 1967, Rommie kept busy by helping local farmers when needed. Rommie was an avid arrowhead collector, he loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Eugene "Brother Raymond" and Maurice; brother-in-law, Clifford "Buck" Mersman; sister-in-law Lois Rommelfanger; and two nephews, Matthew Mersman and Brent Rommelfanger. Rommie is survived by his sister, Marie Mersman of Colorado Springs, Colorado; brother, Leonard Rommelfanger and wife, Rosalie, of Garnett, Kansas; nine nieces and nephews; and numerous other family and friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, August 12, 2016, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Catholic Cemetery in Greeley. A rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service chapel in Garnett, Kansas.
