Randall L. Johns, age 55, of Lone Elm, Kansas, died on Sunday, September 7, 2008, at his home in Lone Elm. He was born on February 22, 1953, in Omaha, Nebraska, the son of Daniel and Ella Maye (Westerlund) Johns. Randall married Eileen Steele on August 6, 1977 at Holy Angels Catholic Church in Garnett, Kansas. This union was blessed with four sons. He graduated from Crest High School in 1970, and earned his degree from Pittsburg State University in Industrial Arts in 1990. He served in the U.S. Navy on July 27, 1971 until April 26, 1975. After the Navy, he worked at Columbia Manufacturing in Iola; then he worked in cabinet shops in Fort Scott and Burlington, before starting his own cabinet shop - Arts Custom Woods, in the mid-1990's. He enjoyed baseball, fishing, gardening, and smoking/grilling meat for family and friends, as well as having a love for music. He coached baseball in addition to serving as a woodworking project leader for 4-H, and a woodworking judge for local fairs, and the Kansas State Fair. Randall was preceded in death by his father, Daniel Johns. He is survived by his wife, Eileen Johns of the home; four sons, Jeremy Johns of Emporia, Kansas; Heath Johns of Lincoln, Nebraska; Andrew Johns of Joplin, Missouri; Seth Johns of Pittsburg, Kansas; his mother, Ella Maye Johns of Iola, Kansas; and one brother, Mike Johns and wife Jean and their son, Eli, of Lone Elm, Kansas, and numerous other family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, September 10, 2008, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Lone Elm Cemetery in Lone Elm, Kansas. Family will greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 9, 2008, at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Colony Community Church or Kincaid Ball Association..
