Randy Blomquist

Randy "Ran" Blomquist, 62, of Iola, Kansas, died Monday, July 26, 2010 at Coffeyville, Kansas. Randy was born July 22, 1948, at Newton, Kansas, the son of Reinhold and Dollie (VanFleet) Blomquist II. He grew up in Peabody and Marion, Kansas and graduated from Marion High School. In 1968, Randy married Sharon Cubit and they had three sons before they were divorced. He made his home in the Garnett area and worked for the Kansas Department of Transportation and Wolf Creek Nuclear Power Plant in Burlington. On June 25, 1988, Randy married Shirley L. (Kratz) Brown at LeRoy, Kansas. They made their home in Iola. He has worked as an inspector for Transystems out of Independence, Kansas for the past 18 years. He enjoyed watching Charlie Chan movies and working outdoors. SURVIVORS: His wife: Shirley Blomquist of the home 3 sons: Tom Blomquist of Garnett, KS, Bill Blomquist of Hutchinson, KS and Mike Blomquist & wife, Edna of Neosho Rapids, KS 2 Step-Children: Darrel Brown of Burlington, KS and Rhonda Jackson of Iola, KS 1 Sister: Vicky Mohn & husband, Gordon of McPherson, KS 2 Grandchildren: Aniston & Xander Blomquist 2 Step-Grandchildren: Thad Maley & Traci Sander Nieces and Nephews He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Steve Blomquist and a step-daughter, Cindy A. Reese. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Friday, July 30, 2010, at the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Chapel in Iola. Gary Murphey will officiate. VISITATION: The family will receive friends an hour prior to the service.
