Raymond L. "Ray" Hull, 79, of rural Humboldt, Kansas, died Saturday, April 30, 2011, at Heritage Health Care in Chanute, Kansas. Ray was born April 14, 1932, at Great Bend, Kansas, the son of Calvin Leon and Mildred Marie (Felton) Hull. The family moved to Yates Center from Great Bend and Ray graduated from Yates Center High School in 1950. He joined the United States Navy in 1952 and served eight years during the Korean Conflict. On March 7, 1953, Ray married Mary C. Huffmaster at Humboldt, Kansas. Following Ray's honorable discharge from the Navy, they made their home in Wichita where he attended barber school. He worked as a barber in Wichita until 1970 when the family moved to Chanute, Kansas and he opened Hull's Place. Ray retired from his barber shop in 2002. He was a member of Big Creek United Methodist Church and enjoyed raising his cattle. SURVIVORS: His wife of 58 years: Mary Hull of the home 2 Sons: Michael Hull of Chanute, Kansas and Steve Hull and wife, Angela of Wichita, KS 1 Brother: Donald Hull of Franklin, Louisiana 1 Sister: Joyce Chambers of Humboldt, Kansas 6 Grandchildren: Christina Morris & husband, Travis, Caitlyn Hull, Andru Hull, Alex Hull, Riley Hull and Ella Hull 1 Step-Grandson: Brayden Mans 2 Great Grandchildren: Madison & Brady Raymond Morris He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Gerald Hull and sisters Phyllis Hull and Mildred Stanfield. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Humboldt United Methodist Church. Rev. Debby Dick will officiate. INURNMENT: Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas, at a later date MEMORIAL: The Kevin Olson Van Fund (Ray is Kevin's uncle) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
