Raymond J. Rockers, age 83, of Greeley, Kansas, passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2011, at his home. He was born on January 6, 1928, at Greeley, Kansas, the son of Edward and Lena (Wolken) Rockers. He attended schools in the Richmond area, graduating from Richmond High School. Raymond served in the U.S. Army from October 1950 to October of 1952, in which he did a Tour of Duty in Korea. Raymond was united in marriage to MaryAnn Ohmes on January 14, 1953. This union was blessed with eleven children. He was a farmer since age 15 when he began helping on the family farm. Raymond began his own farming business which continued for 58 years. He also had a livestock operation which he sold feeder cattle. Farming was his principle passion, however when he was not farming he enjoyed fishing, but his greatest joy came from his grandchildren, great and great-great grandchildren. He also enjoyed their vacations to Hawaii, Yellowstone National Park, Salt Lake City, and Washington, D.C. Raymond served many years on the Anderson County Co-Op Board, serving as President of the Board for 9 years. Raymond was a member of St. John's Catholic Church, having served on the Parish Council, and 3 years on the St. John's School Board. He was also a 3rd Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Raymond was a lifetime member of the Greeley VFW Post, having served as Post Commander. He was preceded in death by his parents; four infant children, Loretta, Robert, Caroline and Fredrick; three brothers, Elmer, Kenneth and Dennis Rockers; and three sisters, Elva Bradford, Florence Wolken, and Theresa Huff. He is survived by his wife, MaryAnn Rockers, of the home; children, Joan McGowin and husband Marlin of Greeley, Kansas; Betty King and husband Steve of Drummond, Oklahoma; Andy Rockers and wife Karin of Waukomis, Oklahoma; Angela Atwood and husband Mark of Farmington, Utah; Jerry Rockers of Greeley, Kansas; Matt Rockers and wife Teresa of Alva, Oklahoma; Jim Rockers of Louisburg, Kansas; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-six great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren; three sisters, Sister Martina Rockers of Shawnee Mission, Kansas; Hilda Lankard of Garnett, Kansas; Agnes Lickteig of Greeley, Kansas; and one brothers, Martin Rockers of Greeley, Kansas.
