Rebecca Shears

Rebecca "Becky" Maye Shears, age 60, passed away at her home in Chanute, Kansas on July 19, 2024.

Becky was born on August 27, 1963 in Parsons, Kansas to Robert and Patsy (Burris) Shears. Becky grew up in La Harpe, Kansas, and attended school in Iola.

Becky was a very doting mother to her two children, Dustin and Kendra. She had a large group of friends and family that cared deeply for her. Becky thoroughly enjoyed taking care of her many houseplants, which she loved to surround herself with. Everyone always laughed when they were around Becky, and she was very outgoing. There was never a dull moment around her.

Becky also liked being out in nature, walking and camping. She especially liked camping at Farlington Lake and liked to go floating in Noel, Missouri. In her free time, Becky was fond of painting houses for herself and others.

Becky was preceded in death by both of her parents; brothers, Jim, Jerry, and Bob Shears; and sister, Cheryl Riebel.

Becky is survived by her children, Dustin (Lauren) Smith and Kendra Smith; siblings, Eva Carnahan, Mike Shears, Bryan (Karla) Shears; grandchildren, Holden, Josiah, Aurora, and Anya; beloved dog, Sissy; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Celebration of Life will be planned at a later date.
