Richard Franklin Clark, age 69 of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 18, 2011, as the result of a motorcycle accident in Calgary, Canada. He was born on January 11, 1942, at Ravenna, Ohio, the son of William F. and Ida Mae (St. Clair) Clark. He grew up in the Pomeroy, Ohio area, graduating from Pomeroy High School in 1960. Dick attended Bethel Bible College in West Virginia. He owned Chatfield Cycle Shop in Chatfield, Ohio for 18 years. In 1999, he moved to Ottawa from Ohio, and he went to work at Ransom Memorial Hospital for 5 years. In 2006 Dick moved to Garnett and began working as the Director of Engineering at the Anderson County Hospital. Dick was united in marriage to Brenda (Hall) Lee on January 7, 2011, at Ottawa, Kansas. He was raised as a Methodist and lived his life by the Golden Rule. Dick oversaw several charity programs for children, while living in Ohio. He enjoyed bicycling, jogging, and being in the outdoors. Motorcycles and riding had been a life long passion of Dick's, he had visited every state but Hawaii, due to the fact there was no road to get there. He would often say "it's all about the ride". He had built several award winning bikes, his work had been featured in popular magazines. His talents included airbrush and glass etching, he could build almost anything. Dick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lee, of the home; daughter April Lawrence of Pomeroy, Ohio; stepdaughters Sarah Adaiha Lee of Perry, Kansas; Yvonne Nicole Majors of Honolulu, Hawaii; mother-in-law Anna Lee Payne of West Des Moines, Iowa; sister-in-law Diana Hiatt and husband Denny of West Des Moines, Iowa; brother-in-law Steve Hall and wife Eunice of Talbottom, Georgia; granddaughter Shawna Clark of Pomeroy, Ohio; grandsons Ashton Ledbetter and Drew Ledbetter; and great granddaughter Addisyn Ramsburg. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, July 29, 2011, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett. Family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Anderson County Hospital Foundation or the Garnett Church of the Nazarene.
