Richard Lee Mullins, age 74, of Rantoul, Kansas, passed away on Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at Ransom Memorial Hospital, Ottawa, Kansas. He was born on February 15, 1939, in Anderson County, Kansas, the son of Glenn and Mary Pearl (Mace) Mullins. He graduated from Welda High School. Richard was a farmer, dairyman, and held odd jobs such as a mechanic at Kens Champlin in Olathe, Kansas; Ottawa Recreation from 1987 to 1998 as a maintenance supervisor for ten years; he also was a rural mail carrier in southern Anderson County, and many other jobs. Richard was the President of the Power of the Past Antique Engine and Tractor Association for 16 years. This was his most favorite activity and hobby. He was an avid John Deere tractor collector and also restored them. Richard married Mary A. (Bishop) on March 3, 1985 in Mont Ida Church of the Brethren, making their home in Imes, Kansas. He loved spending time with his great grandchildren, riding bikes and fishing. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Pearl Mullins; two brothers, Johnny and Donald; one sister, Irene Mullins. Richard is survived by his wife, Mary Mullins, of the home; one brother, Jim Mullins of Garnett, Kansas; two sons, Dennis Mullins and wife Ruth; Douglas Mullins and wife Julie; one daughter, Deborah Valencia and husband Bob, all of Gardner, Kansas; one adopted son, Craig Mullins of Lyons, Kansas; one adopted daughter, Susan Mullins of Texas; step son, Bud Bishop and wife Linda of Ottawa, Kansas; one step daughter, Brenda Cox and husband Steve of Ottawa, Kansas; 19 grandchildren; five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, July 12, 2013, at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, burial to follow in the Mont Ida Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to Power of the Past Association.
