Richard E Settlemyer

Richard Earl Settlemyer, age 85, of rural Colony, Kansas passed away on Friday, June 30, 2017 at Allen County Regional Hospital. He was born September 19, 1931 in rural Colony to Myrl Noah Isaac and Nellie Mae (Pippinger) Settlemyer. In 1950 he married Yvonne Ione Hensley of Leroy, Kansas. To this union were born three sons. He loved farming, when he wasn't farming, he enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling, and spending winters in Arizona. He will always be remembered for being fair and honest. Survivors include his wife, Yvonne, of the home, two sons, Richard Lee Settlemyer and wife, Carol of rural Colony and Gerald D. Settlemyer of Liberty, Missouri, six grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, two great great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews, two sisters, Phyllis Ann Emanuel of Ashland, Missouri and Sherryl Wright of Lawrence, Kansas. Richard was preceded in death by a son, David, his parents, and a sister, Patricia Joann Settlemyer. Services are Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Iola. The service will begin at 1:00 P.M. with visitation beginning an hour prior. Burial will follow the service in Geneva Cemetery. Contributions in his memory are suggested to the Mayo Clinic.
