Richard F. Weilert

Richard Francis Weilert, age 82, of Humboldt, Kansas, passed away at his residence on July 8, 2023. Richard was born March 26, 1941, in Dodge City, Kansas, to Dr. John J. Weilert and Anna Mae (Robinson) Weilert-Works.

Richard graduated in 1959 from Humboldt High School. He served his country in the United States Army for three years. Richard attended Pittsburg State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree in education and later a master's degree in psychology. Richard taught in numerous schools for 14 years.

Richard married Louise Smith on June 19, 1976, in Humboldt, Kansas.

Richard enjoyed fishing and he liked to hunt in his earlier years. He also enjoyed restoring old vehicles. Richard was known for his intellect and for his abilities to build most anything from metal or wood.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

Richard is survived by his wife, Louise, of the home; brothers, Michael (Colleen) Weilert, Wamego, Kansas, Dr. Stephen (Marlene) Weilert, Humboldt, Kansas, Dr. David (Nancy) Weilert, Humboldt, Dan (Cathy) Weilert, Humboldt, Kansas, Dr. Tim (Vickie) Weilert, Chanute, Kansas; sisters, Martha (Michael) Heffern, Reece, Kansas, Barbara Hess, Humboldt, Kansas, Karen (Phil) Jared, Chanute, Kansas, Sharon (Bill) Barton, Humboldt, Kansas; and numerous other relatives and friends.

A Rosary will be recited at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, July 22, 2023, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Humboldt, Kansas, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment with military honors will be in St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
