Rita Luquinn Marmon, age 78 of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2012, at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. She was born on March 8, 1933, in Richmond, Kansas, the daughter of M.C. "Bud" and Irene (Brown) Holloran. She grew up in the area, graduating from Garnett High School in 1951. Luquinn was united in marriage to John E. Marmon on July 31, 1951, in Indiana. This union was blessed with five children. She worked as a medical librarian at Anderson County Hospital for 28 years, retiring in 1990. Luquinn was a member of Holy Angels Catholic Church; Holy Angels Altar Society; 3rd Order of Carmelites; American Medical Records Association; Election Board; and BPW. She volunteered at the Thrift Store in Garnett; and enjoyed sewing, crocheting, quilting and flowers. Her greatest joy was her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Luquinn was preceded in death by her parents; one son Jeffery Marmon on February 6, 2002; and her sister Connie Hermreck on January 19, 2009. She is survived by her husband John E. Marmon of the home; one son, John M. Marmon and wife Elizabeth of Topeka, Kansas; three daughters, Rebecca Hiles of Wichita, Kansas; Milissa Marmon and A. Del Quest of Portland, Oregon; Stephanie Culp and husband Cary of Lawrence, Kansas; brother Charles Holloran and wife Mary Lynn of Garnett, Kansas; sister Jorene Woods and husband Jim of Lawrence, Kansas; eighteen grandchildren; and twenty-six great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, February 16, 2012 at the Holy Angels Catholic Church, Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett, Kansas. The family will greet friends following the Rosary at 7:00 PM, Wednesday at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett. Memorial contributions may be made to the Luquinn Marmon memorial fund and left in care of the funeral home.
