Robert E. "Bob" Swift, age 87, of Colony, Kansas passed away Monday, July 10, 2017 at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. He was born March 3, 1931 at Matfield Green, Kansas to Fred and Jenny Swift. He met the love of his life at an early age, and married Charlotte Lammon when she was a sophomore in high school. They made their home in Colony, Kansas in 1953, while Bob was working for the City Service Gas Company in Welda, Kansas. When Bob wasn't working, he could usually be found at the local coffee shop playing cards with his buddies. If you couldn't find him in the coffee shop, then you knew he was either in the field or tending to his numerous cattle operations. Family was very near and dear to Bob's heart. He never missed a graduation, and was always available at a moment's notice if he was needed, sometimes whether he was needed or not. Bob will always be remembered for his willing helping hand, and his generous, friendly nature. Bob is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of the home, two sons; Jack Swift and wife, Rosslyn, of Kansas City, Missouri, and Dale Swift of Colony; grandchildren, Tim Hoffman, Tracy Garrett, Stephanie Plaschka, Brett Swift, Jessica Kinnett, Brian Meyerholtz, David Meyerholtz, John Meyerholtz, and Matthew Talmadge, twenty-one great grandchildren, and one great great grandson, two siblings, Charlie Swift and Ruby Everett. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Diana Meyerholtz, by his parents, and siblings Harold Swift, Jewel Swift, Crystal Smith, Ralph Swift, Forrester Swift, Freddie Swift, and George Swift. Services will be held on Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Colony Community Church in Colony, Kansas. Visitation will begin at 1:00 P.M. and the funeral service will follow at 2:00.
