Robert O. "Bob" Hiner, age 72, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Sunday, February 28, 2016. Bob was born on February 10, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas. He was the fourth of six children born to Lewis and Arlene (Dreibelbis) Hiner. Bob grew up on the family farm southeast of Garnett, and attended Greeley High School; he was a member of the class of 1962. He served six years in the Kansas National Guard. Bob was united in marriage to Patricia "Pat" Hodgson on March 24, 1967 at the First Christian Church in Garnett. They made their home on his family's farm, where he resided until his death. He worked for and retired from Taylor Forge Engineering of Paola, Kansas, after 42 years of service. Bob loved his life on the farm and throughout his lifetime he farmed and raised livestock in addition to his work off of the farm. Bob was a loving husband and father. He was a good friend and willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed his help. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Arlene Hiner; brother, William Hiner. Bob is survived by his wife, Pat Hiner, of the home; three children, Dennis R. Hiner and wife Andrea of Garnett, David E. Hiner of Garnett, and Diane Watts and husband Raymond of Ottawa, Kansas; nine grandchildren; four great granddaughters; three brothers, Rex and Sharon Hiner of Greeley, Colorado, Sam and Connie Hiner of Burlington, Kansas, Jack and Sandra Hiner of Centerville, Kansas; one sister, Loretta Scott of Greeley, Colorado; sister-in-law, Fritz Hiner of Olathe, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 4, 2016 at Feuerborn Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, with burial following in the Garnett Cemetery.
