Robert Stephen Hyden, age 73, of LaHarpe, Kansas, passed away November 3, 2021, at his residence. Robert was born May 20, 1948, in Nashville, Tennessee, to John P. Hyden and Geneva (Kirk) Hyden.
Robert graduated from Shawnee Mission High School, Shawnee Mission, Kansas. Robert served his country in the United States Air Force. He worked many years as a mechanic, specializing in Volkswagen service and repair. He also worked for Russell Stover Candies and Precision Pump.
Robert was an avid movie collector and he also enjoyed collecting other memorabilia. He enjoyed reading and keeping up with current news and events. Robert liked spending time at family events and with his grandkids.
Robert was preceded in death by his father; and brother, Allen Hyden.
Robert is survived by his son, Christopher Hyden (Tamala), Moran, Kansas; mother, Jeannie, Nashville, Tennessee; brothers, John Hyden, Fort Worth, Texas, Ed Hyden, Wichita, Kansas, Glenn Hyden, Wichita, Kansas; sister, Patricia, Nashville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Stephen Hyden, Ottawa, Kansas, Christian Spencer, Buffalo, Kansas, Robert Hyden, Humboldt, Kansas, Joseph Hyden, Iola, Kansas; ten great-grandchildren, and numerous other relatives and friends.
A memorial service with military honors will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, November 19, 2021, in the Fort Scott National Cemetery, 900 East National, Fort Scott, Kansas.
