Robert August Katzer

Robert August Katzer, age 68, of Greeley, Kansas, died on Friday, August 14, 2009, at his home. Bob was born on August 1, 1941, at Greeley, Kansas, the son of Francis and Josephine (Egidy) Katzer. He grew up in the Greeley area. He was united in marriage to Rose Mary Cullison on October 1, 1966 at Greeley, Kansas. This union was blessed with three children. Bob worked as a welder at Haven Steel and Taylor Forge, retiring in February of 2003. He was also a farmer and stockman. He was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. Bob enjoyed playing poker, pool, horseshoes, and hunting, but his greatest joy was his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father; and his wife Rose Mary Katzer on November 16, 1984, and a brother, Matt Katzer. Bob is survived by his children Robert "Chris" Katzer of Garnett, Kansas; Rebecca Boone and husband Daniel of Colony, Kansas; and Travis Katzer and wife Lindy of Greeley, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Bryan Tastove, Blake Boone, Logan Boone, Jesse Boone, Mitchel Katzer, Caden Register, Waylon Katzer and Rose Mary Katzer; his mother, Josephine Katzer of Garnett; two brothers, Gene Katzer, and Leon Katzer and wife Marilyn, all of Greeley; and a sister, Helen Windle and husband Fred of Olpe, Kansas. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 17, 2009, at St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley, Kansas. Burial will follow in the St. John's Cemetery in Greeley. A Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2009, at the St. John's Catholic Church in Greeley. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John's Building Fund.
