Robert Powell

Robert L. Powell, 83, of Iola, Kansas, passed away Monday, July 13, 2015, at the Moran Manor. Robert was born October 16, 1931, on the family homestead west of Colony, the son of Ernest Amos and Lucy Virginia (Fultz) Powell. He grew up in the Geneva area before the family moved to LaHarpe. He graduated from LaHarpe High School in 1949. Robert then served 3 years in the U.S. Army being stationed in Germany. On June 10, 1955, Robert married Betty L. Anderson at the Xenia Baptist Church. They have always made their home in Iola. He worked for H.L. Miller & Son Dress Factory and did carpentry work. He was a member of the Iola Baptist Temple. SURVIVORS: His wife of 60 years: Betty L. Powell of the home 4 Sons; Robert Powell, Jr. & wife, Bonnie of Iola, Richard Powell & wife, Sharon of Iola, Rory Powell & Paul Abbott of Lenexa, KS and Ray Powell of Stuart, FL 5 Grandchildren: Robert Powell III & Lissa, Joshua Powell, Ashley Powell, Ann Powell-Eckley & husband, Brandon and Alex Price 2 Great Grandchildren: Stella & Aurora He as preceded in death by 11 siblings. Cremation has taken place. MEMORIAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Iola Baptist Temple with visitation to follow.
