Robert Eugene Sherrill, 85, of Iola, Kansas, passed away in his daughter's home in Blue Springs, Missouri on October 3, 2013. Bob was born December 22, 1927 and was a lifelong resident of Iola, KS. He was preceded in life by Sally Ann Sherrill, his wife of 52 years and his youngest daughter, Denise Ann Sherrill. Bob was the son of Ralph and Bertha Sherrill, also lifelong residents of Iola. He graduated from Iola High School and attended ACCJC before joining the military. He is survived by three daughters and two brothers; Susie and her husband, Jim Shearer, Blue Springs, MO, Jeanie and her husband, Mike Stultz, Lawrence, KS, and Barbara Lucile Sherrill, Iola, KS; David Sherrill, Iola, and Dr. Dee Sherrill and wife, Beth, Estes Park, Colorado. Brother-in-law Brad Kidd and wife Salley Jo, of Winfield, KS and sister-in-law Irma Kidd of Wichita, KS also survive. Additional family members who survive are four grandchildren; Dr. Joy Furman and her husband, Dr. Matt Furman of Pueblo West, Colorado; Galen J. Morrison of Overland Park, Kansas; Sherrill Ann Scott and her husband Brandon, of Olathe, Kansas; and Stacey Dawn Howell and her husband Dr. Matt Howell of Andover, Kansas. Three step-grandsons who survive are James and his wife Kristi, and John Shearer of Louisville, Kentucky and Jason and his wife Terri Shearer of Blue Springs, Missouri. Bob is also survived by great grandchildren Blake, Preston and Greyson Furman, Ashley and Jimmy Shearer, Ellie, Rowen and Remy Jane Howell, McKenzie Leeann Scott, and Jessica and Jonny Shearer. Numerous beloved nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. Bob owned his own milk route and hauled milk for the Pet Milk Company. He farmed west of town and raised polled hereford cattle. He drove trucks for LeHigh and Ruan Cement Company. Bob served in the Army during the occupation of Japan 1945-1947. He was a V.F.W. member and was a Methodist by faith. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2013 at one o'clock, at the Highland Cemetery in Iola. A fellowship and remembrance service will follow at Trinity United Methodist Church in Iola.
