Robert Elliott "Bobby" Smith, 57, son of John and Mary Smith former Gas and Iola residents, died Friday, January 16, 2015, at his home in Beatrice, Nebraska. Bobby was born November 21, 1957, in Fairfax, Missouri, the son of John Elliott and Mary Delores (Zirfas) Smith. He worked various jobs through the Beatrice State Developmental Center. He enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles. SURVIVORS: His Parents: John & Mary Smith of Ft. Scott, KS 4 Sisters: Teresa Saugstad of Volga, SD, Donna Fletcher of Sioux Falls, SD, Valerie Ingle of Van Buren, AR and Angela Smith of Kansas City, MO 10 Nieces & Nephews and 13 Great Nieces and Great Nephews Grandmother: Billie Smith of Fall City, NE He was preceded in death by his sister, Janet Lynn Madison, and grandparents Chris Eugene Smith, George and Agatha Zirfas. ROSARY & MASS: The parish rosary will be recited at 10:00 a.m., Tues., Jan. 20, 2015, at St. John's Catholic Church in Iola, followed by the celebration of the mass at 10:30 a.m. BURIAL: St. John's Cemetery, Gas, KS MEMORIAL: Beatrice State Developmental Center (BSDC) Memorial gifts may be left with the Waugh-Yokum & Friskel Memorial Chapel of Iola, which is in charge of arrangements.
