Robert Neal Yokum, 88, of Humboldt, Kansas, died Thursday, April 23, 2009, at his home. He was born July 7, 1920, at Nowata, Oklahoma, the son of Eli A. Delbert & Nancy Jane (Capps) Yokum. He grew up in the Westphalia area. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII where he was stationed in New Guinea as a combat engineer. On February 18, 1941, Robert married Dorothy M. Riebel in Westphalia. They have made their home at Humboldt most of their marriage. She preceded him in death on December 13, 2007. Robert farmed before working at Humboldt Brick & Tile for 38 years. He later worked at Berg Manufacturing, Hi-Lo & Woodmart. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Humboldt. SURVIVORS: 1 Son: Robert "Gary" Yokum of Humboldt,KS 3 Daughters: Evelyn Jones of Iola, KS; Linda Cravens of Humboldt, KS; and Nancy Manly of Chanute, KS 24 Grandchildren, 53 Great Grandchildren and 5 Great Great Grandchildren He was preceded in death by 4 children, Lester, Phyllis and Bryan Yokum and Joyce Beck, and by 6 brothers and 1 sister. Cremation has taken place.
