Roberta Dewey

Roberta Dewey, age 78, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, January 25, 2010, at the St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas. She was born on April 20, 1931 at Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Earl Vernon Kelly, Sr. and Vera Mae Radcliffe. Roberta was united in marriage to Lester Hodson and three children were born to this union. They later divorced. She married Roy Oscar Olson and one daughter was born to this union. They later divorced. Roberta married George Dewey on May 27, 1989, at Lawrence, Kansas. She enjoyed taking care of the house and her family, to which she was devoted. Roberta loved to dance, and she loved animals and nature, and rides in the country. She attended the Baptist Church. Roberta was preceded in death by her parents and a son, Melvin Hodson, and two grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, George Dewey, of the home; one son, Robert Hodson and wife Linda of Lawrence, Kansas; three daughters, Caroline Crain of Perry, Kansas; Amanda Olson of Garnett, Kansas; LoVella Bartlett of Topeka, Kansas; her brother James Harold Kelly and wife Shirley of Topeka, Kansas; and sister Phyllis Mae Huddleston and husband Jim of Joplin, Missouri; eight grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 28, 2010, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas. Burial will follow at the Garnett Cemetery.
