Word has been received of the death of Roger Wayne Sapp, age 87, of Garnett, Kansas, on Monday, June 13, 2011, at Golden Heights, Garnett. He was born May 24, 1924, in Iroquois, South Dakota, the son of Ralph W. and Ruth (Sawvell) Sapp. Roger was a member of the First Christian Church, Garnett, Kansas, the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, walking, particularly on the rail trail, and traveling with his fifth wheel trailer. Roger was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Ruth Sapp; wife, Eloda; brother, Delbert; sister, Velma; and one infant great-grandchild. He is survived by his wife, Shelda; his children, Robert Sapp and wife, Judy of Clear Lake, South Dakota, Karen Spurgin and husband, Donald, of Osceola, Iowa, Joanne Hasche and husband, Daniel, of Lake Preston, South Dakota, and Cheryl Duffy and husband, Michael, of Madison, South Dakota; 9 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; 2 brothers, Allen and Darrell Sapp; 3 sisters, Betty Groce, Dorothy Groce and husband, Ernest, and Carol Grove and husband, Lyle. Private family services will be held at the Oldham Cemetery, Oldham, South Dakota. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church and sent in care of the funeral home.
