Ronald A. Miller, age 64, of Garnett, Kansas passed away, Saturday, April 2, 2011 at his home. He was born February 9, 1947 at Garnett, the son of Clyde and Eileen (Hermreck) Miller. Ron grew up in Garnett, attending Holy Angels School and Garnett High School, graduating in 1965. He the attended Kansas State University for one year before returning to Garnett where he worked at Taylor Forge and Sohigro, before he went to work at Armco Steel in 1967. In 1968 Ron was drafted into the US Army. He served one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was injured in combat and received a purple heart 13 April, 1969 and was honorably discharged in 1970. Upon return, he went back to work at Armco Steel in Kansas City. On November 25, 1971 he was united in marriage to Linda Champe at Garnett. This union was blessed with three sons and one daughter. They made their home in Overland Park from 1971 - 2000, when he returned home to Garnett. After returning to Garnett Ron worked for the Countryside Veterinary Clinic. Ron was a member of the Steelworker's Union, Local #13, V.F.W. and the Knights of Columbus, both of Garnett. He enjoyed coaching softball and baseball while his children were playing. He also liked working on the farm. He enjoyed and participated in rodeo and was the Kansas High School Calf Roping Champion in 1964. He was preceded in death by his father, Clyde, on September 27, 2008. Ron is survived by his wife, Linda, of the home; his children, Roger Miller and wife, Sara of Lowell, Arkansas, Kortney Reeder and husband, Russel, of Tomball, Texas, Ryan Miller and wife, Katie, of Garnett, Kris Miller and wife, Angie, of Olathe, Kansas; 7 grandchildren, Colton Miller, Kylie Miller, Rylan Reeder, Kinlea Reeder, Karson Reeder, Ally Miller, and Ty Miller; his mother, Eileen, of Garnett; one sister, Kathe Solo and husband, Mike, of Osawatomie, Kansas. Mass of Christian burial will be 2:00 PM, Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Holy Angels Church, Garnett. Interment will follow in the Holy Angels Cemetery, Garnett. The family will greet friends from 7:00-8:00 PM, Tuesday evening at the funeral home in Garnett. Condolences to the family may be left at www.feuerbornfuneral.com .
