Ronald Rich, age 75, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday, July 4, 2022, at his home.
Ronald Lynn Rich was born on July 30, 1946, in Pratt, Kansas. He was the second of three children born to Thomas Winston and Thelma Louise (Parnell) Rich. Ron grew up in Greensburg, Kansas. Ron was united in marriage to Ruth Cook, they were blessed with one son, Kevin. Ruth preceded Ron in death on May 23,2008. In 1971 they moved to Windsor, Colorado, where Ron lived until 2002. Ron then lived in Eaton, Colorado and then Greensburg, before moving to Garnett, Kansas in 2020.
Throughout Ron's life one thing was constant, rodeo. Ron began riding bulls as a young man, he competed from 1960 to 1972. After Ron stopped riding he continued to share his knowledge, teaching bull riding. He played a major role in helping the careers of PBR World Champion Kody Lostroh, PRCA World Champion Bullfighter Lance Brittan and countless superstars of bull riding and bullfighting. His legacy in the rodeo arena will still be carried out by grandsons Ryder and Roper. Ron owned and operated Wild West Cattle, contracting rodeo stock for rodeo companies throughout the United States from 1994-2008.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Dean Rich.
Ron is survived by his significant other, Janice Worthington, of the home; his son, Kevin Rich and wife, Amy, of Eaton, Colorado; two grandsons, Ryder and Roper Rich; and, sister, Carol Hamblen of Ellis, Kansas.
