Ronald Smith

Ronald D. Smith, 55, of Chanute, Kansas, died Monday, April 27, 2009, at his home. He was born May 21, 1954, in Iola, Kansas, the son of Nathaniel W. and Mildred V. (Rogers) Smith. He grew up in Iola where he attended school and lived most of his life. Over the years he worked for Columbia Metals, Tramec, U.S.D. #257, and HiLo. He was married to Barbara Spear and later to Brenda Fudge. SURVIVORS: 2 Daughters: Sheila Smith of Iola, Kansas, and Rachael Smith of Chanute, Kansas 2 Step-Sons: Tommy Hammer of Iola, Kansas and Jeremy Fudge of LaHarpe, Kansas His Mother: Mildred Smith of Shawnee Mission, KS 3 Brothers: Robert Smith of Iola, KS, Larry Smith of Harrisonville, Missouri, and Roger Smith of Iola, Kansas 1 Sister: Carmen Williams of Shawnee Mission, Kansas 4 Grandchildren: Laney, Jordan, Tyler and Makia He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kimberly Smith. FUNERAL SERVICE: 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 1, 2009, at the Ward Chapel A.M.E. Church in Iola. BURIAL: Highland Cemetery in Iola, Kansas.
