Ronna M. Howerton

Ronna Marie Howerton, age 67, of Gas, Kansas, passed away in Kansas City, Missouri on August 14, 2024.

Ronna was born in Parsons, Kansas on February 7, 1957 to Benjamin Cannon and Helen (Lever) Cannon. As a child, her family moved many times because her father was in the military. Ronna was ambitious, working two jobs while going to high school.

Upon graduating high school, Ronna traveled around the United States with her job. Around this time, she married Rick Cloud. From this union, Ronna had three children; Lisa, Jason, and Craig. The marriage later ended in divorce. Ronna later met Kevin Howerton. They were together for many years before getting married in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Ronna was employed at John Deere in Iola for 26 years, before retiring. Many of her lifelong friends were met while working there, and she spent the last year enjoying the company of her companion, Walter Palmisano.

Ronna greatly enjoyed traveling and playing Bingo. She loved to cook, especially sweets and baked goods. Ronna liked fishing, camping, gardening, and hosting backyard cookouts. Her grandchildren were the light of her life, right alongside her beloved dogs, Maggie and Lexie. Ronna would make friends wherever she went, and was loved by many.

Ronna was preceded in death by both of her parents; husband, Kevin; brothers, Steve and David Cannon; sister, Donita Boone; and son, Craig Cloud.

Ronna is survived by children, Lisa (Brett) and Jason Cloud; grandchildren, Blake (Shelby) Mittelmeier, Hunter (Jenna) Mittelmeier, Tristan Mittelmeier, Kyler Mittelmeier, Caiden Cloud, Korbin Cloud, and Beau Erickson; one great-granddaughter, Lena Mittelmeier; close friends, Sue Smith and Larry Riley, and Dottie Niday, who was like a daughter to Ronna; and many other cherished family and friends.

A funeral service is planned for Friday, August 23, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service, 1883 US Highway 54, Iola, Kansas. Burial will immediately follow at the Gas City Cemetery. Family will greet friends at a visitation the night prior, on August 22, 2024, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in The Venue at Feuerborn Family Funeral Service.
