Rosalynd Montgomery

Rosalynd "Roz" (Booth) Montgomery, 72, of Chanute, Kansas, died Saturday, December 10, 2011, at her home. Roz was born March 17, 1939, in Chanute, Kansas, the daughter of Art and Inez (Clark) Booth. She grew up in Chanute and graduated from Chanute High School in 1957 where she was a member of the National Honor Society. On May 10, 1959, Roz married John L. Montgomery at First United Methodist Church in Chanute. They made their home in Illinois, Colorado, Missouri and Florida before returning to Chanute 20 years ago. She has worked at a veterinary clinic in Topeka, operated her own clothing store in Kewanee, Illinois, and worked in the probate judge office at Erie, Kansas. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Chanute. She enjoyed reading, doing research and geneology, collecting old cameras and adopting and caring for stray animals. SURVIVORS: Her husband of 52 years: John L. Montgomery of the home 1 Son: Doug Montgomery & wife, Rhonda of Excelsior Springs, Missouri 1 Daughter: Jill Montgomery Niemi of Kearney, Missouri 4 Grandsons: Kyle, Craig & Chad Montgomery and Ian Niemi 2 Great Grandchildren: Haylee & Micah Montgomery She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Christina Montgomery and a sister, Terri Goodnough. VISITATION: 6:00-7:00 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Chanute. FUNERAL SERVICE: 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2011, at First United Methodist Church in Chanute. Dr. Dyton L. Owen will officiate.
