Rose Gretencord, age 90, of Richmond, Kansas, passed away on Thursday, September 14, 2017, at Parkview Heights, Garnett. She was born May 11, 1927, in Richmond, Kansas, the daughter of John and Mary (Benus) Gretencord. Rose graduated from West Scipio grade school. She lived her entire life on the farm southwest of Richmond. She raised chickens and sold the eggs, and helped her brother Alvin with the farm. She loved taking care of her house and yard and tending her flower gardens. She was a member of the St. Boniface Altar Society and St. Boniface Church. Rose was preceded in death by her parents, John and Mary Gretencord; four sisters, Beatrice Bures, Ines Kinney, Viola Griffith, Claire Gretencord; and two brothers, Ervin Gretencord and Alvin Gretencord. She is survived by three nieces, Carol Sartori and husband John of Sequim, Washington, Anita Bures of Topeka, Kansas, Carla Griffith of Carpinteria, California; one nephew, Rene Bures and wife Rosalee of Richmond, Kansas. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at St. Boniface Catholic Church, with burial following in the St. Boniface Cemetery, Scipio.
