Rosita Mae Petree

Rosita Mae Croner Petree, age 73, of Moran, Kansas passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at the Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas. She was born September 21, 1936 at Gridley, Kansas, the daughter of Jesse and Ada (Rooney) Croner. Rosita grew up in the Westphalia area. She married Robert Kelley in 1951, they had two children. They later divorced. She lived in Colony from 1955 until 1975. On July 2, 1977 Rosita married Eugene H. Petree. They made their home in Topeka where Rosita worked as a health technician at several Topeka nursing homes. They moved to Moran in 1980. Rosita will be missed as she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved tending to her flowers and garden, as well as making quilts for her family. Rosita was preceded in death by her parents, nine half-brothers and two half-sisters. She is survived by her husband, Gene, of the home; daughter, Vicki Long and husband, Earl "Butch", of Iola, Kansas; son, Ronald Kelley and wife, Liz, of The Woodlands, Texas; three granddaughters, Angela Laughlin of Overland Park, Kansas, Jennifer Long of Osage City, Kansas, and Kayla Kelley of The Woodlands, Texas; four great-grandchildren, Alexander and Benjamin Francis, and Gabrielle and Victoria Laughlin all of Overland Park, Kansas; two half-brothers, Chet Kershner of Moran, Kansas and Kenneth Johnson of Gridley, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 AM, June 29, 2010 at the Cherry Mound Cemetery, rural Westphalia, Kansas. The family will greet friends from 7:00 - 8:00 PM, Monday evening at the funeral home in Moran. Memorial contributions may be made to the A.C.A.R.F.
