Ruby M. Foster, age 77, Humboldt, Kansas, passed away July 23, 2018, at the Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, surrounded by her loving family. Ruby was born July 29, 1940, in Iola, Kansas, to Floyd Culbertson and Pearl Creason Culbertson. She and Gail R. "Dick" Foster were married on August 7, 1958, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Humboldt, Kansas. Ruby worked at the Chanute Daylight Donut Shop and the Humboldt Self-Service Grocery Store. Ruby was assistant manager of Johnson's General Store in Humboldt for many years, where she worked with her best friend, Jan Coykendall. She then became manager of the store until her retirement. Ruby was a member of St. Peter's Lutheran Church and St. Peter's Guild, and she and Dick were youth group leaders of the Walther League for many years. Ruby was an avid reader. She had a life-long love of books and was a frequent visitor of the Humboldt Public Library. Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Steve Whitney; and brother-in-law, Richard Johns. Ruby is survived by her husband of the home; one daughter, Lynn Lytle and husband, Don, Humboldt; one brother, Wayne Culbertson and wife, Jean, Metter, Georgia; two sisters, Louise Johns, Humboldt, and Barbara Scott and husband, Jack, Humboldt; three grandchildren, Jared Lytle, Farlington, Justin Lytle, Pittsburg, and Jessie Lowe and husband, Alex, Chanute. A funeral service honoring Ruby's life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, July 27, 2018, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, Humboldt, Kansas. Burial will follow in Mount Hope Cemetery, Humboldt, Kansas.
