Ruth Hoffmeier, age 89, of Welda, Kansas, passed away on Wednesday, April 4, 2012, at Anderson County Hospital Long Term Care in Garnett, Kansas. She was born on August 29, 1922, in Welda, Kansas, the daughter of Dave and Julia (Prohaska) Brecheisen. Ruth graduated from Welda High School in 1941. Ruth worked at Cessna in Wichita, Kansas and the Army Airforce at American Royal Building in Kansas City, Missouri for one year. She worked at Farm Bureau in Kansas City before moving to Washington D.C. for a year with her sister Pauline. Ruth made her way back to Welda to work for J.C. Penney while living with her parents. Ruth was united in marriage to Raymond Hoffmeier on July 7, 1951, at Welda, Kansas. This union was blessed with one son, Gary. She loved the outdoors, including gardening, flowers, sewing quilts and especially her birds. Ruth was a member of the United Methodist Women. She was preceded in death by her parents, Dave and Julia Brecheisen; her husband, Raymond Hoffmeier on January 26, 1983; brother, Karl Brecheisen; an infant sibling; and two infant sons. Ruth is survived by her son, Gary Hoffmeier of Welda, Kansas; grandson, Raymond Hoffmeier of Lansing, Kansas; great grandson, Kristopher Hoffmeier; two sisters, Helen Saunders and husband Bob of Shertze, Texas; Pauline Darby of Washington, Kansas; and one brother, David Brecheisen and wife Marilyn of Canton, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., on Thursday, April 12, 2012, at Welda Methodist Church, Welda, Kansas. Burial to follow in the Welda Cemetery. The family will be present to greet friends on Wednesday evening from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service in Garnett.
