Ruth Ann Whitcomb

Ruth Ann Whitcomb, age 89, of Kincaid, Kansas, died Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at the Allen County Hospital, Iola, Kansas. Ruth Ann was born on March 7, 1919, in Mound City, Kansas, the daughter of Fred and Ida (Merriman) Demott. She attended school at Blue Mound, Kansas. She was united in marriage to John Wesley Whitcomb on September 6, 1940, at Paola, Kansas. Ruth Ann was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John Whitcomb, on November 1, 2007; a grandson, Stephen Whitcomb; daughter-in-law, Janie Whitcomb; brother, Hubert DeMott; and sister, Mary DeMott. She is survived by a son, Doug Whitcomb of Moran, Kansas; a daughter, Pat Durand and husband Reese of Kincaid, Kansas; 7 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; sister, Ann Danley-Cox; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 19, 2008 at the Kincaid-Selma United Methodist Church, Kincaid, with burial to follow at the Kincaid Cemetery. Family will be present to greet friends from 6 to 8 PM on Sunday, May 18 at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel in Garnett, Kansas, Memorial Contributions may be made to the Kincaid Fair Association.
