Sally Pickert (nee Gilstrap), of Saint Charles, Missouri, passed away Sunday, December 31, 2023 at the age of 86. Beloved wife of the late Kenneth Pickert; cherished daughter of the late Albert and Ada Gilstrap; devoted mother of the late Michael (Rita) Pickert and Diane (the late Roger) Wellman; loving grandmother of Samuel (Kali) Wellman and Jessica (Mark) Zilienski; treasured great- grandmother of Riley; dear sister of one brother and two sisters. Sally lived an extraordinary life. She lost not one, but both of her parents by the time she was 12. Sally grew up in Indian boarding school and later even worked as a house mother there. She met her husband, Ken, a Kansas farm boy while she was working at Blue Hills drive in. They married two days after her 18th birthday and together they raised Mike and Diane.
Sally traveled the world and lived abroad in Ammon, Jordan for three years; she loved the adventure of travel and seeing how others lived. She was a great cook and artist. She was also an accomplished golfer scoring a hole in one! She loved playing bridge and was known to win at dominoes quite often. After the loss of her husband, brother and son, she moved to St. Louis to be closer to Diane, Samuel and Jessica. After joining Diane in St. Louis, they continued their travels, going on two Mediterranean cruises; a cruise through France and a river cruise across Europe.
Sally was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
