Samuel Russell Robinson, age 98, of Garnett, Kansas, passed away on Monday February 8, 2016, at the Residential Living Center, Garnett. He was born on September 29, 1917, in Bronson, Kansas, the son of Clarence Robinson and Gertrude McQueen. He married Mildred M. Johnson on June 17, 1940 in Ft. Scott, Kansas. This union was blessed with two daughters. After marriage, they lived in Osawatomie and Paola, moving to Garnett in the 1950's. Russell and Mildred purchased the Sunshine Hatchery in Garnett and operated that for 5 years. Russell ran the Anderson County Cheese plant and the All Star Dairy in Garnett. After retiring as a cheese maker at age 62, he was offered a job as a dairy inspector for the state of Kansas. He continued as a dairy inspector for the state until he finally retired at the age of 85. Russell loved to fish and in his spare time you could find him at the North Lake fishing. Russell was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mildred M. Robinson in 2011; sister, Lena Stewart; brother, Ray Robinson. He is survived by two daughters, Diane Cannon of Santa Barbara, California; Janice Walter and husband Leland of Kincaid, Kansas; six grandchildren, Leslie Oliver; Robyne Walter; Ryan Walter and wife Carla; Shane Walter and wife Bree; Janel Kaufman and husband Keith; eight great grandchildren; and several great great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Friday, February 12, 2016, at the Feuerborn Family Funeral Service Chapel, Garnett, with burial in the Uniontown Cemetery, Uniontown, Kansas. The family will be present to greet friends on Thursday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be left to the Samuel R. Robinson Memorial Fund.
