Sandy Peine

October 7, 1958 — March 5, 2025

Sandy S. Peine, age 66, of Princeton, Kansas, passed away peacefully at Baldwin Healthcare and Rehab on March 5, 2025. Sandy was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, whose warmth and vibrant spirit touched the lives of all who knew her.

Sandra Sue Potter was born on October 7, 1958, in Garnett, Kansas, to Albert and Beverly (Ashburn) Potter. As the youngest of five, she was affectionately known as the "baby" of the family and was her "Daddy's Girl." Sandy graduated from Garnett High School in 1976, leaving behind memories of her days as a spirited baton twirler.

On February 21, 1976, Sandy was united in marriage to Robert L. Peine in Scipio, Kansas. Their loving union was blessed with three children: Jeff, Jody, and John.

Throughout Sandy's life, her first priority was to be a mother and a farm wife. She worked in her parents' Candy store in Garnett, and then at King Radio in Ottawa, Kansas. She loved her life on the farm and any cattle that managed to get out would ultimately have to face Sandy and her broom. Gathering pigs for the fair resulted in more than one memorable story. She took great pride in their family farm, finding joy in watching the cattle graze and appreciating the scenery.

Shopping was one of Sandy's favorite pastimes, she loved finding that "perfect piece," to add to her collection or the next item to hang on the wall. Sandy had a flair for decorating and a keen eye for style. Her home was a testament to her creativity, often filled with meticulously arranged furniture and an impressive collection of home decor. Friends and family frequently visited not only to see Sandy but also to admire her ever-evolving interior designs. In her later years, she developed a passion for collecting antique items, each with a unique backstory and timeline. Her children fondly recall that the walls and ceilings were often obscured by her country decor. She was a talented baker, known for her delicious beer bread and apple pies. She found joy in baking special birthday cakes for her loved ones and making each birthday a very special event.

Becoming a grandmother earned her, her favorite title in life when she became "Grandma Moo." She delighted in spoiling her beloved granddaughters with sweets and playing Tic-Tac-Toe. No visit to Grandma Moo's was complete without a John Wayne movie, or a TV western. Sandy cherished every moment spent with them.

Sandy was preceded in death by her parents; husband Robert Peine on December 26, 2013; brother in law Butch Lytle; and niece Debbie Lytle.

She will be deeply missed by her children, Jeff and Nikki Peine, Jody and Scott Keltner, and John and Kaitlyn Peine; her grandchildren; two sisters and two brothers, Vicky Lytle, Eddie Potter, Marsha and Dan Dulin, and Terry Potter; and many nieces and nephews.
